| Local Lecturer in Fatal Car Crash | |||
Students are mourning the loss of popular Media Studies lecturer Stuart ‘Stu’ Ellis after a fatal car crash early last Thursday morning at the city outskirts. Ellis was taken to nearby Castle Hospital in a coma where he later died. No one else was involved in the incident. Ellis’ mother, with whom he still lived, was surprised that her son was out driving at all, let alone at 4am. “He hadn’t driven in years. I just hope that rushing to be wherever he was off to didn’t mean he lost control at the wheel. I was always telling him to slow down”. |

The Ellis family car, a brown Volvo, had been registered as being off the road for the last three years but was thought to still be in good working order. Mysterious. Police are still investigating the cause of the incident. A crime scene insider told this paper that initial reports suggested a heavy object had been dropped onto Ellis’ car from a motorway overpass, causing it to lose control. So far Police have been unable to recover any such object. The same insider told us that, when taken to Castle Hospital, Ellis briefly woke up from his coma to utter the word ‘Deity’ before he finally succumbed to his injuries. Said his mother, “I didn’t know he was a religious man but he could have found God for all I know these last few months as I’d hardly seen him. How would I know if anything was wrong?” A small memorial for Stuart Ellis will now be held at the Students Union Bar at Closing Time on Sunday night. Police are now treating this tragedy as an unfortunate accident. |
